Over the years, we’re seeing a rapid advancement in technologies all centered on the DJ platform. Vinyl DJs scoff at CD DJs who then scoff at MP3 DJs. But with gear that enables the MP3 DJ to sound as qualified as the vinyl jock, and MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 music being encoded at higher bit-rates for a cleaner reproduction of digital sound (not to mention the increased devotion of entire hard drives to WAV libraries), the lines between the three groups have been blurred.
Denon, a producer of standard professional DJ products, has created the DN-HD2500, the first player/controller of its kind to offer multimedia storage capabilities and connectivity as well as CD playback control to work in tandem with already existing Denon dual-tray CD players such as the Model DN-D4500 and DN-D4000. The portable and durable player is perfect for a variety of applications, including clubs, weddings, outdoor events and most any other location a DJ setup is needed.

A built-in, replaceable hard-drive (for maintenance) makes it easy to store music within the mixer, while USB connectivity allows you to connect USB 2.0 Mass Storage Class drives for additional storage. The HD2500 comes with Denon’s Music Manager Software, which allows you to organize and then search music by Artist, Album, Title, Genre, Year, BPM and playlists. Additionally, two Hot Start buttons (A1 and A2) allow you to create seamless loops and stutter points for increased manipulation of your set.
The Music Manager, settings and details can be viewed on the HD2500’s large LCD window. Jog wheels on the mixer enable you to cue up and start a track at any given point for more control. For the most part these functions emulate their popular CD player models, so you might not notice the new format you’re playing on. And for those of you that choose to navigate with a keyboard, the HD2500 supports any USB/PS2 keyboard.
